If you have never jumped out of a plane before, you probably have a hundred questions. The good news: tandem skydiving is built for first-timers. You do not need any experience, and your instructor handles every technical detail.

Here is exactly how the day unfolds, minute by minute, so you can arrive confident and excited.

Arrival and Check-In

Plan to arrive at Mon Loisir Airstrip about 10 minutes before your scheduled time. You will check in, show a photo ID, and sign a waiver. Then you will meet your instructor, who will be your partner for the entire experience.

The Safety Briefing

Your instructor gives a 10–15 minute briefing covering the freefall arch position, how to exit the plane, and how to lift your legs for landing. It is simple, clear, and designed to make you feel comfortable.

Gear Up

You will put on a jumpsuit and harness over your clothes. The instructor checks every strap and buckle. Goggles go on just before the door opens. If you wear glasses or contacts, the goggles fit right over them.

The Plane Ride

The Cessna climbs for about 20 minutes to 10,000 ft. This is one of the most underrated parts of the experience: a scenic flight over Mauritius's northern lagoons, reefs, and coastline. Take it in.

The Door Opens

At altitude, your instructor shuffles you to the door. There is a final check, then you exit together. The first second feels like a rush of wind, but then your body stabilises and it feels like flying.

Freefall

You fall at around 200 km/h for up to 30 seconds. It does not feel like a roller-coaster drop; it feels like floating on a cushion of air. Breathe through your nose, smile, and look at the view.

Canopy Flight and Landing

At about 5,000 ft, the instructor opens the parachute. The freefall noise stops, and the next 5 minutes are calm, quiet, and beautiful. You will glide over the island before a soft, controlled landing.

After Landing

Back on the ground, you collect your gear and—if you bought the photo/video package—pick up your digital files. Many guests immediately start planning their second jump.
